Big Blue has acquired the film rights to Adem, the latest novel by bestselling author Saskia Noort, published by The House of Books, part of Overamstel Publishers.
Adem is a gripping coming-of-old-age novel about female rage, emotional scars, and sisterhood. It tells the story of Marieke, who is about to turn fifty – a milestone she had envisioned very differently. To the outside world, she seems to have her life perfectly together: a successful single writer who isn’t afraid to speak her mind. But on the inside, she struggles with loneliness, the fading of her beauty, divorce and motherhood, and above all: her sexuality.
With millions of readers, Saskia Noort is one of the most beloved authors in the Netherlands. For Big Blue, the production company focusing on high-end series and known for acclaimed titles such as The Crash (winner of the Golden Calf), the four-part series Don’t fall, dance, and the upcoming large-scale romantic period drama Grand Hotel by the Sea – collaborating with Noort is a logical and highly promising step. Marieke, the outspoken female protagonist at the heart of Adem, fits seamlessly with the strong characters featured in Big Blue’s productions.
